In the Kitchen with Lisa and Brian: Fall veggie stew

by | Oct 7, 2009

WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina. We’ll post each video here, along with links to the recipes.

This week’s N.C. State Fair winning recipe comes from Sondra Bass of Dunn. She won a blue ribbon in the N.C. Peanut Growers Association contest with a hearty stew perfect for the cooler fall Fair weather. If that sounds like an odd winner in a peanut category, check out the recipe list on the Got to Be Good Cookin’ Web site to see how she incorporated that key ingredient into the stew.

Do you have what it takes to win this year’s N.C. Peanut Growers Association Pea-nutty Vegetarian Recipe Contest? The competition, which happens Thursday, Oct. 15, at 4:30 p.m. during the N.C. State Fair, awards prizes for 1st Place  ($200), 2nd Place ($150), 3rd Place ($100) and Honorable Mention ($50). But hurry, the deadline for registration is Saturday, Oct. 10

Visit the N.C. Peanut Growers Association competition’s Web site for all the rules on registering for the event. To see the rest of the specialty cooking competitions, click here.
