We have a diverse workforce here at the NCDA&CS that focuses on consumer protection, food safety, agricultural marketing, accuracy of weights and measures, plant conservation, livestock protection…and more. Once a month, we’ll talk to one of our employees and provide a behind-the-scenes look at what they do to serve North Carolina.

For this month’s Faces in the Field feature, I sat down with Jim Knight, our media marketing specialist. Even if you don’t recognize his face, you’ve probably heard his voice. Jim records many of the announcements for the N.C. Mountain State Fair and the State Fairgrounds.
Jim works in the marketing division to promote North Carolina growers and agribusinesses to consumers, and focuses on developing relationships with statewide and national media to get the word out about events such as the Got to Be NC Festival and the N.C. Mountain State Fair.
Right now, he and his team (including Casey Allen, who you can get to know over on the N.C. State Fair’s Deep Fried blog) are hard at work getting ready for the Mountain Fair’s opening on Friday, Sept. 11. Listen in as he describes what goes into opening weekend and what he’s working on right now.
