Today’s Topic: Changes in food safety officials

by | Aug 25, 2009

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with the Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”

southernfarmnetwork1Last week Commissioner Troxler hosted the fifth annual Food Safety Forum, and about 400 people were able to attend. It was a great program featuring national and local speakers, talking about a wide range of food safety topics from peanut butter product recalls to the importance of partnerships in food safety efforts. The forum also signaled a change in leadership in our Food and Drug Protection Division. Troxler announced that the Food and Drug director, Joe Reardon, has been hired by the FDA to be a liaison with the 50 states.

Listen in to hear Commissioner Troxler tell Rhonda Garrison about Reardon, his successor and other plans for North Carolina’s food safety efforts.
