We have an extensive collection of photos taken over the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ history. In our Photos from the Field posts, we’ll pull some of these snapshots out of our archives and take a look back at pieces of North Carolina’s agricultural heritage. We’ll do our best to research the “who, what, when and wheres” of these photos, but if you have more information, please leave us a comment.
- Late Ag Commissioner Jim Graham and a ‘cue cooker try out food fresh off the smoker at a 1972 pork industry pig pickin’ held at the Governor’s Mansion.
UPDATE: Deborah Johnson from the N.C. Pork Council helped us identify two of the men with Commissioner Graham. At far left is the late James Wright Jackson, a Sampson County producer and pork industry leader, and beside him is the late Tom Farmer, former executive secretary of the N.C. Pork Producers Association (now the N.C. Pork Council). Deborah and her team are working on identifying the other two men to the right of Mr. Farmer.
