WRAL noon anchor Valonda Calloway and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina. We’ll post each video here, along with links to the recipes.
This week in the Got to Be NC kitchen, Lisa and Valonda layer cake, berries and streusel to create a fruity version of the popular coffee cake dessert.
Blueberries, a key ingredient in these bars, are being harvested and celebrated at a variety of farmers markets and festivals across the state. More than 97 percent of North Carolina blueberries are grown along the coast in counties such as Bladen, Pender, Duplin, Sampson and Craven. North Carolina ranks sixth in the nation in blueberry production, and 14.5 million pounds of blueberries are produced annually in the state.
