My favorite part of the State Farmers Market is the sense of community I feel when I go there. People share stories, tips, recipes and my personal favorite – samples.
Tomorrow, the State Farmers Market is hosting its annual Blueberry Day. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., you can try free samples of North Carolina blueberries and pick up free blueberry recipes to use at home or at your next summer cookout. In past years, there has been a blueberry dessert contest featuring some of the best dishes in North Carolina. This year the farmers market is bringing in the professionals, and will feature Fat Little Blueberry Cookbook author and Eden resident Lisa Shively, who will be serving up samples of her blueberry nut crunch.
In the spirit of community, we’d like to hear from you. What are your favorite blueberry recipes?
If you are not in the Raleigh area, special events and festivals are also planned across the state:
- June 13 – Blueberry Day at Southeastern NC Agricultural Center and Farmers Market in Lumberton, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- June 20 – North Carolina Blueberry Festival in Burgaw, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
