Every week WRAL noon anchor Valonda Calloway and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina. We’ll post each video here, along with links to the recipes.
This week, it’s all about beef in the Got to Be Good Cookin’ kitchen. This recipe combines ribeye steaks with fresh grape tomatoes (which you can pick up at a farmers market near you) and brie cheese. Check out the Got to Be Good Cookin’ site for this recipe and more tasty beef ideas.
You’ll hear from Lisa there are 19,000 cattle farmers in North Carolina, and they raise about 372,000 head of beef cattle. The N.C. cattle industry as a whole (including dairy cows) brings in about $220 million in farm income and makes up almost 3 percent of the total farm cash receipts for North Carolina. You can learn more about our beef cattle industry at the N.C. Cattlemen’s Association and N.C. Cattlemen’s Beef Council sites.
