On Earth’s Furrowed Brow exhibit

by | Apr 6, 2009

Last week we featured a photograph from a new exhibit at Raleigh’s N.C. Museum of History. We got a chance to stop by the opening-night party for On Earth’s Furrowed Brow, a photography exhibit featuring farmers and farmland in Western North Carolina. The mountain-themed party had true-to-the-mountains food, drinks and music, and the crowd was treated to a presentation by the exhibit photographer, Asheville resident Tim Barnwell.

Take a look at the video to see how Barnwell first developed the idea of portraying the life of mountain farmers for Mountain Living magazine, how he developed relationships with the farmers featured in his photos, and statistics behind farm loss in our state. For even more information, visit our Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund site, which worked with the museum on this exhibit.
